Will Smith Doesn't Believe in Schools
December 2nd 2006 15:04
"Will Smith says he and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith are homeschooling their children because he doesn't believe in teachers and feels the most valuable things he learned in life he didn't get from school. He tells Reader's Digest
'The date of the Boston Tea Party does not matter. I know how to learn anything I want to learn. I absolutely know that I could learn how to fly the space shuttle because someone else knows how to fly it, and they put it in a book. Give me the book, and I do not need somebody to stand up in front of the class.'"
What the hell, Will? He's not exactly a learned scholar or anything like that. I'd like to see HIM fly a space craft. Idiot.

Homeschooling success largely depends on the parents who are teaching it. I've heard of a lot of parents who drop the ball, and give in to their kids' desire to goof off. If I had been homeschooled, I would have tried like crazy to get off doing any real work.
There should be checks and balances for homeschooling. For example, standarized tests the homeschool kids would have to take every few months to make sure they are at least at the level of their peers. If the homeschool kids fail two of the standardized tests in a row, back to regular school they go.

Each to their own I guess........however, I can guarantee that he could not fly a space shuttle just from reading a book. Will has gotten confused and forgotten that he didn't actually fly planes or the alien craft in Independence Day. Remember Will, it was a movie. Special effects dude.
Damn, he's hot though!!!!

I'm a bit worried about the way things are going in schools in Aus too... nort so much because of the teachers, but the beurocratic crap that puts the politics into schools.
Let 16 year olds vote. Then we might start to see changes.
