I am disgustingly offended by the thought that this healthy looking, albeit no longer model thin, woman is being called fat. Makes us real fat girls want to go eat a gallon of mousse and hang ourselves with our queen sized pantyhose.

I'm appalled that you would dare to call her fat. Just because she's in the public eye and has since retired from professional modelling and wants to relax her eating habits doesn't mean that she's fat. She looked awesome on the last cycle of top model. Even though she may have been caked in make up, you can't hide the fact that she's got an ass and that ass is appearing in her successful TV shows for all the right reasons.

Calling someone fat doesn't make you a better person, though I am perplexed that you may be accusing her of that to get hits for your site.

Tyra Banks is not FAT! She is fatter than she used to be, but definitely not a gross fatty. Her face is scrunched and her hair looks very dry, sort of like a horse tail, but she isn't hideous. It's just not a flattering photo. She does need to exercise, though.

I think anyone could use exercise for health benefits only. As for Tyra....Why consider her fat? I am 20 pounds heavier then I was at my peek, pre baby. I weighed 110 then. I am 130 now, and I am short. BUT I am not fat. I exercise and have a better body then most people in a gym. Weight is only a number and why are "we" so obsessed with the number. Has anyone seen the 88 lb bag of bones on the runway now. EWWW! If I wanted a skeleton in clothes I'd go back to biology/anatomy and dress "ED".

It's so sad that society really is this shallow. I'm 5' 6'' and I weight 98 pounds. I'm sick, I battle with anorexia everyday. I think Tyra is Beautiful! Shes such a lovely person. i like tyra dont get me wrong, but i think this is a stunt so she can look more "real" to people who watch her show. a couple fat photogs here, an "i like being me comment there" and america is entranced. i mean, isnt it just a tad depressing to hear someone talk about how sad it is to be fat when they are the epitome of what a hot body is? Even if they are likable? this way she can be an inspiration to her viewers when she loses it again. she has said numerous times that oprah is her hero. i believe tyra thinks if she does this it will help her viewers relate to her. just watch her shows, she's been pointing out how much she weighs, how she likes to eat, "look at my booty" she'll say --i think she's been trying to get noticed for this. --i bet you she does a show about her weight gain and what it's like being "heavy" and then one on how she lost it. just give it time. Ultimately, I truly believe she is a good girl, i believe her heart is in the right place and she is putting a lot of good info out there for us to learn, i just think that this "fat tyra" is a temporary publicity stunt.

God knows that for as many hot photos I have of myself, I have seen just as many horrible photos. I have the advantage of being able to toss those photos away. I believe that tyra is going on with her life and that modeling is behind her. She is tall and when she was modeling she was not skinny sick looking. Now that she has retired she is eatting differently and is enjoying life. I don't know about any of you. But when you are outside and it is very sunny you squint. Like she is doing. But we are not tyra so we are never on a magazine cover. you go swimming your hair make up is all wet and you are not looking the best. no matter who you are we all take a bad pic at times. models do have there pic touched up. please get a life. this is a girl that is moving on in her life. you should also.

YOU PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE! Tyra Banks has been (and continues to be) an inspiration and great role model for girls everywhere. She is beautiful inside and out. She projects the image to girls that they are beautiful, and they don't have to be skinny to be beautiful. It is not only rude, but also unnaceptable to call her names like "fatty" and "lardface". She may have gained more weight recently than she normally does, but that does not make her fat. First I have to say I LOVE Tyra!!!

Second, 5'10 and 161 lbs is not healthy... it may be "average" in today's American society but it is not a weight which girls should feel comfortable with. Most importantly a true role model to young girls would realize that saying " I know I don't eat healthy, I'm ok with gaining 5lbs a year, and I don't exercise as much as I should." Is definitely NOT an appropriate statement for a role model to make. There is not such a thing as healthy and fat.... face it... that is the most ignorant statement ever made...Being overweight leads to severe heath such as diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure and heart problems.

Third, while models should not be super thin (88lbs) and dying, neither should they be overweight. Perhaps people should start looking at things a little differently. If you are going to be a role model...act like it... eat healthy, exercise and spread the word that it is NOT ok to be OVERWEIGHT.... Not only is it a bad representation of America.. it's one of the seven deadly sins... Have control over what you eat, and don't let it control you....

Tyra, you don't have to change your body.... but clean up your statements... and i can definately say i don't know a single guy who would say fat women are pretty....

First I must say it is GREAT to finally see someone that weighs a normal weight in the public eye. For a woman that is 5'10, I hate to say it boys but anywhere between 150 and 165 is about normal. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Trya Banks. It makes me sick to think that the world has become so obsessed with women who starve themselves to look like what? A skeleton. Look at people like Lindsay Lohan and Keira Knightly... First I must say it is GREAT to finally see someone that weighs a normal weight in the public eye. For a woman that is 5'10, I hate to say it boys but anywhere between 150 and 165 is about normal. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Trya Banks. It makes me sick to think that the world has become so obsessed with women who starve themselves to look like what? A skeleton. Look at people like Lindsay Lohan and Keira Knightly... I could be wrong but I think they both looked a hell of a lot better when they actually had a little meat on their bones and didn't weigh 90lbs. Tyra Banks is a beautiful, confident, intelligent, and wonderful role model for women everywhere.
Not only did she, at a young age, go off on her own to peruse a modeling, but even after she became a supermodel she wanted to do more.
She has a camp for young girls, produces two television shows, and is an inspiration for young girls everywhere.
And you guys - she's not modeling anymore!!!
She's allowed to be the size of a normal person. She's still beautiful, and probably still would be if she weighted 250 lbs.
What's more important is she has an amazing heart, and (I know this sounds really corny) that's what's important.
Via her talk show and camp, she has touched and encouraged people everywhere.
So what if she doesn't look like a Q-tip.

I love Tyra but I can be objective here. I don't know Tyra personally but her contributions to society are what's most important to me. If she gained some weight, so what? If most people got into modeling and didn't eat right, they too, would gain a few pounds. It's just NORMAL for the body to adjust to a different routine and diet.

I think most people are really hard on Tyra 'cause she's a former model. The reality is most people do gain weight when, either they get too busy or they get older-that's LIFE!

People don't remember much but look back in the history of most former models or beauty queens or actors formerly famous-THEY'RE HEAVIER than we remember them, right?

Ok. Enough really is enough. One would think that people are intelligent enough to know that tabloid photos are touched and then retouched to be whatever they need to be in order to serve the story.

How do you think it is possible for Tyra to be as big as she appears in this photo one week, yet be her normal 160lbs the following week on her show.

And let's say that she really did gain all of that weight....SO THE HELL WHAT!

I have always been a naturally small person. At 5' 5", my regular size was between a 4 and 6, and at one point when I was really into excerising, I was heading for a size 2. And then all of a sudden, I was diagnosed with a tyroid problem and gained 30 pounds! To my pleasant suprise, my husband actually prefers me with the weight. While he never protested before, he says now he feels like he is married to a real woman, not some little girl. We have to learn to love ourselves, no matter what size we are, and we need to allow people the freedom to do the same. I say hats of to Tyra for facing this issue head on, and not running away from it. She is a brave and beautiful soul!

I have a few things to share. First of all, Tyra is a beautiful person on the inside, and has been blessed with beauty outside as well. She has a camp to help improve the self-esteem of young girls. We all know that the media, does nothing to assist with this, nor do they want to. I lived on the beach at one point in my life, and I can assure you that no one looks fresh after they have been outside for a while. Not to mention, anyone would make a face if a complete stranger came up to you and started taking your picture.

Stars as well as models are human, they have to shave their legs, brush their teethe, use the restroom and etc. They are no different than any of us, except...they are more attractive, make more money, have no privacy, and instead of being judged by few they are judged by all. It is no ones place to judge this woman or what she does with her own body! It is her right to live and breathe and no one elses to judge her for it. For those of you that want to call her childish names, you really need to fix what is broken on the inside. You are shallow and obviously missing out on some great things in life, because you can't get passed the packaging.

Second, 5'10 and 161 lbs is not healthy... it may be "average" in today's American society but it is not a weight which girls should feel comfortable with. Most importantly a true role model to young girls would realize that saying " I know I don't eat healthy, I'm ok with gaining 5lbs a year, and I don't exercise as much as I should," is definitely NOT an appropriate statement for a role model to make. There is not such a thing as healthy and fat.... face it... that is the most ignorant statement ever made...Being overweight leads to severe heath such as diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure and heart problems.

Third, while models should not be super thin (88lbs) and dying, neither should they be overweight. Perhaps people should start looking at things a little differently. If you are going to be a role model...act like it... eat healthy, exercise and spread the word that it is NOT ok to be OVERWEIGHT.... Not only is it a bad representation of America.. it's one of the seven deadly sins... Have control over what you eat, and don't let it control you....

I can't believe how disgustnig you are to say that this woman is fat. Of course, this is not a flattering picture of her, but if you think SHE'S fat there IS something wrong with you. So I suppose you'd think those 90lb girls on the runway now are the attractive and "healthy" women, right? Being that underweight is much more unhealthy than being 30lbs overweight. Obviously she's not in her prime like she was before and I bet in 10 years you won't look as "good" as you do today.

Tyra is gorgeous, and above all else she is happy with who she is. She's confident and embraces her body like a real woman should.

Tyra Banks is the most beatiful inspirational women I have ever seen in the media. It takesw a lot of balls to do the things she does. She puts herself vulnerable to catty comments that are said only to make YOU sleep better at night. She does this to make a point. And just know that healthy people think people like you need a life. And I will just keep going around making sure you know it.

okay i jus came back from the taping of the tyra banks show in nyc and SHE IS NOT FAT! lol everyone who says so is obviously stupid because they believe tabloids over the truth. and the fact that people are sayin she's "walkin down the runway" as a "fat person" is false! she's retired remember fools? she doesnt do runway anymore...so what's everyone's problem? assholes!!!!

Tyra Banks is a classy young woman who was intelligent enough to actually do something to promote positive body image--as opposed to these shallow celebrities that do nothing but care about their outside appearance and the next guy that they sleep with. A lot of the celebrities you see are not necessarily nice people inside--they're diva-ish, stuck-up, annoying, and full of themselves. Sure, they might have hot bodies, but they have no respect for themselves, nor do they have any form of intelligence or integrity to them whatsoever.
I'm annoyed by the immaturity and the classlessness of some of these comments on here.....

I agree with the above statement. She spoofed it by using it for her show and showed up in the very bathing suit in the pic and showed how much they changed her appearance in the photo, just for a story. For shame all who said bad things based on a fake pic. Even if it were real, my gosh, now I see why girls have these self-image problems.

All you people on here writing stuff about her need to be at the gym yourselves, did you know that 2 out of every 3 people in the US are overweight or obese, and i know there was more than two people who wrote bad comments so you guys need to STFU!!!!!!!
