Scarlett Johansson wants to adopt a child.

'The Nanny Diaries' star can't wait to settle down and start a family and is planning to open her home to an underprivileged child.

Scarlett told USA Today newspaper: "I would love to have kids. I haven't really figured it out yet. I can see having a kid or two. And I would like to adopt children. I think I'm tender with children. I got along really well with them. They make me feel young, like you're nine-years-old again."

The blonde star also revealed she is set to travel to Iraq to visit US servicemen later this year.

She said: "I get letters from soldiers my age and younger. I wanted to go to Iraq in October, but it may be a little later.

'Adopting' seems to be the flavour of the month among the rich and famous. It begs the questions as to why? Are these actions really coming from the heart or is it all just another publicity scam? I stand skeptical!

Mmm....I like Scarlett, but I think she needs to wait a few years before she takes on motherhood. The hormones play tricks on you in your 20's....saying "now, your body is ready....now...be a mother....now!" but whether your MIND is ready is another thing. Adopting is a nice idea though, as long as it's for the right reasons.....i.e. helping a child have a better life rather than cashing in on the current celebrity trend. I hope it's for the right reasons, I really do.
