O.J. Simpson Book and TV Special Cancelled

O.J. Simpson

"NEW YORK — News Corp., the parent company of book publisher HarperCollins and the FOX network, has canceled publication of the O.J. Simpson book and television special ‘If I Did It.’

‘I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project,’ said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. ‘We are sorry for any pain that this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.’

In the book, the one-time football superstar tells how he would have killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman if, in fact, he had done it.

A dozen FOX affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the book's publication.

One station manager who had said he wasn't airing the special said he was concerned that whether or not Simpson was guilty, he'd still be profiting from murders."

Glad they finally ame to their senses. Worse.Idea.Ever. It's amazing what some people will do for ratings...

Hi Adrienne,

I'm so glad to hear this! Wouldn't think they actually could cancel this, thinking of how much money it would get them...

Well, well... anything can happen in Hollywood.

BTW; O.J. SIMPSON is plain stupid. Sorry, had to say it.

The guy is the bloody killer, whatever anyone says. Now with this 'if I did it', he's practically saying 'jeeze, I ddin't do it, but if I was to do it this is how I would have done it', heck, take him back to court and atleast charge him with conspiracy to murdur.

Oh thank goodness. I was beginning to feel quite nauseated by this saga.

There is hope after all. Thank you for your post.

Yeah, I agree that cancelling was the way to go. What a rediculous book to write anyhow. How can you write a book like that in the conditional? It's just absurd.

I can not believe that they even entertained the idea of this.

It takes bad taste to a whole new level.

I am so glad they canned this idea. As everone agrees, worst idea ever.

Actually, with the double jeopardy laws I'm suprised he didn't out and out decide to call it "This Is How I Did It."

It was bad enough when it happened - they should have just left it alone.
