Abbie Cornish Was A No-Show

"November 8, 2006 -- AUDIENCES may have seen a whole lot of Abbie Cornish in the first five minutes of her new movie, ‘Candy,’ co-starring Heath Ledger - but filmgoers Claire Danes, Ron Howard, Lydia Hearst and Carson Kressley never had the chance to congratulate the up-and-coming actress. Cornish was a no-show at her own screening, hosted by the Cinema Society and Cole Haan, held a week after reports surfaced that she broke up Hollywood's golden couple, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe. And while Cornish was staying away from the scene at the Tribeca Grand, that kind of shyness is a big change from the past, according to one source, who said Cornish and Phillipe flaunted their relationship on the set of ‘Stop Loss.’ ‘He took her to the movies, they went to dinner, everything in public,’ said our spy. The usually reserved Ledger provided his own star power at the screening, where he showed up without financée Michelle Williams and their baby Matilda."
